The Nature Conservancy
Founded in 1951, The Nature Conservancy is a leading international non-profit
organization working in all 50 states and 27 countries, whose mission is
preserving the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the
diversity of life on Earth.
Through a strategic, science-based planning process called Conservation
by Design, which helps us identify the highest-priority places – landscapes
and seascapes – to ensure biodiversity in the future.
The Nature Conservancy partners with communities, businesses, partner organizations,
governments, and indigenous people and communities to preserve our lands
and waters for future generations to use and enjoy.
In addition to its drive and goals, The Nature Conservancy maintains and
upholds indispensable values including using a non-confrontational, collaborative
approach, continually exercising integrity beyond reproach, operating openly
and transparently in the pursuit of the mission, holding itself accountable
to all its members, the public and to all those with a stake in preserving
precious natural resources, maintaining high ratings by charity watchdogs,
innovation and excellence, and effective partnerships with traditional communities,
businesses, the public sector, and indigenous peoples.
